Forstår ikkje framgangsmåte med rasjonal likning

Har prøvd å bruke WolframAlpha for å prøve å forstå korleis eg skal løyse denne likninga:
[tex]\frac{2}{x-2}=\frac{4}{x-1}[/tex]
Og fekk dette svaret.
Solve for x over the real numbers:
2/(x - 2) = 4/(x - 1)
Hint: | Transform 2/(x - 2) = 4/(x - 1) so that x only appears in the numerator.
Take the reciprocal of both sides:
(x - 2)/2 = (x - 1)/4
Hint: | Write the linear polynomial on the left hand side in standard form.
Expand out terms of the left hand side:
x/2 - 1 = (x - 1)/4
Hint: | Write the linear polynomial on the right hand side in standard form.
Expand out terms of the right hand side:
x/2 - 1 = x/4 - 1/4
Hint: | Isolate x to the left hand side.
Subtract x/4 - 1 from both sides:
x/4 = 3/4
Hint: | Solve for x.
Multiply both sides by 4:
Answer: |
| x = 3
"Reciprocal" har eg skjønt betyr noko slikt som "invers", men eg skjønner ikkje korleis du plutselig kan ha lov til å snu brøkene i ein likning på hodet.
Eg prøvde å flytte den eine brøken over og skifter fortegn, og får dette svaret:
Solve for x over the real numbers:
2/(x - 2) - 4/(x - 1) = 0
Hint: | Write the left hand side as a single fraction.
Bring 2/(x - 2) - 4/(x - 1) together using the common denominator (x - 2) (x - 1):
-(2 (x - 3))/((x - 2) (x - 1)) = 0
Hint: | Divide both sides by a constant to simplify the equation.
Divide both sides by -2:
(x - 3)/((x - 2) (x - 1)) = 0
Hint: | Multiply both sides by a polynomial to clear fractions.
Multiply both sides by (x - 2) (x - 1):
x - 3 = 0
Hint: | Solve for x.
Add 3 to both sides:
Answer: |
| x = 3
Den slo sammen brøkene under ein brøkstrek med fellesnevneren (x - 2) (x - 1) og gjorde brøken negativ, samtidig forstod eg ikkje korleis telleren blei som den blei.
