Vha. av kvadratsetningene får vi at
x[sup]2[/sup] + y[sup]2[/sup] + z[sup]2[/sup] + 4x - 6y + 2z = 2
(x[sup]2[/sup] + 2*x*2 + 2[sup]2[/sup]) + (y[sup]2[/sup] - 2*y*3 + 3[sup]2[/sup]) + (z[sup]2[/sup] + 2*z*1 + 1[sup]2[/sup]) = 2 + 2[sup]2[/sup] + 3[sup]2[/sup] + 1[sup]2[/sup]
(x + 2)[sup]2[/sup] + (y - 3)[sup]2[/sup] + (z + 1)[sup]2[/sup] = 2 + 4 + 9 + 1 = 16 = 4[sup]2[/sup].
Herav følger at denne kulen har sentrum (-2,3,-1) og radius 4.
